Academics

GKCA will meticulously adhere to the Kenya Institute of Education’s syllabus, seeing to it that your child gets to finish the course work as stipulated in the syllabus and mastering the content thereof. In order to accomplish this GKCA provides an environment where your child and the teachers get to interact freely enhancing learning opportunity. This environment includes proper classrooms and enough teaching materials. Discipline in GKCA is regarded as key to success in learning. We believe that this discipline hinges upon good relationship between administration, teachers, pupils, and parents. Relationship therefore is God’s gift to us all that gives us success when attained.

Spirituality

In order to cement the above discipline through proper relationship GKCA emphasizes the need for developing Christian values in the heart of your child. Christian values and discipline shall therefore be emphasized in all faucets of learning environment. We believe that a morally upright society ought to be rooted in spiritual development espoused by its people. We therefore aim at developing your child’s spiritual live basing it on the Christian teaching found in the written word of God, the Bible. Since this is our believe and policy, we want the parents of our children to know this at the time of registration; that Christian teaching and literature shall be made available to all children attending GKCA.

Physicality

In order to meet our definition of holistic development, GKCA also emphasizes physical health of your child. Together with our parents we will keep high standard of cleanliness in the lives of our children. In order to do this the school shall conduct inspection each morning to make sure that all children are well groomed. The following shall be inspected each morning:

We shall work hard with the parents of our children to see to it that our children, especially those in boarding, get the best diet while in school. To round up physical fitness GKCA shall provide enough physical exercises to help our children be active and alert.

Language

Experience and statistics from National examinations tend to show that children from West Pokot County don’t perform well in English language. It is also true that instruction in all subjects except Kiswahili is done in English language, and not to mention that all instructional books, again, except Kiswahili, are all written in English language. In order to help the children understand what they are learning GKCA therefore adopts English language as the only media of communication in school except on Friday where Kiswahili is spoken. To give the pupils early start and more practice, we encourage that English be made the main language of communication in school.

Discipline & correction

GKCA does not permit corporal punishment done in the form of canning when correcting pupils. We believe that canning encourages aggression in the part of the child at the same time instilling fear and helplessness in the child. A child controlled by fear will always find a way of venting his/her frustration through suppressed anger leading to aggression or timidity. Canning also can be seen or interpreted by the pupils as a sign anger and defeat on the side of the teacher. We therefore encourage the administration and the teachers to employ other means of correcting children without causing any body harm. GKCA seeks to develop your child’s self confidence hence positive attitude towards self. Counseling to the teachers, pupils, and parents shall be made available at all times. As such, once in a while, parents shall be invited to come and discuss the conducts of their child/children in school. We encourage our parents to view this positively since it encourages our motto of ‘relationship’. It is through good relationship that GKCA shall be able to achieve the best for your children.

Staff

GKCA hires three levels of staff which comprise teaching staff, administrative staff, and subordinate staff. All these work together to make our school a success.

1. Teaching staff

The teacher forms the core of our purpose as a school. It is the teacher that shapes the life of our children and therefore careful consideration is made when employing our teaching staff. The following are the requirements that teacher must meet for them to be considered for hire:

2. Administrative Staff

GKCA administrative staff comprises director, manager, accountant, secretary, and a chaplain. Like our teaching staff, GKCA employs devoted Christian staff with special heart for developing young child’s life. Spiritual life our administrative staff is therefore of primary consideration. The second likewise important consideration is academic and training qualification. GKCA desires from all administrative staff dedication to duty which enhances effectiveness and good relationship. It is also the policy of GKCA to encourage our administrative staff to improve their academic and training capabilities while serving in the school.

3. Subordinate staff

GKCA staff comprises security personnel, cooks, cleaning staff, and gardening staff. Even in this field we expect employees to uphold Christian values.

Lifestyle

GKCA is built to co-exist with Faith Bible College of Africa all under the umbrella of Bible Faith Church of Kenya within one property in Koitumo. With that, lifestyle within the school compound must conform to Christian testimony at all times. At no time shall drinking of alcohol or smoking of cigarettes or any other drug, use of obscene or rude language shall be condoned in the school. Failure to meet the high standard of lifestyle shall lead to quick dismissal of our employees or expulsion of students

All members of GKCA staff i.e. staff and pupils shall all meet each Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7.30am in the chapel for devotions. All other days shall be preceded by prayer in the assembly before classes begin. All the members of teaching staff and the members of the administrative staff shall meet every Tuesday from 3.30-4.30pm for a one hour bible study.

Fees
